Fence Installation in Columbus, Ohio

Wood privacy, vinyl, chain link, and ornamental fencing. Straight posts, clean lines, gates that actually close. Built to handle Ohio weather.

A Good Fence Starts with Good Posts

You can tell a lot about a fence job by looking at the posts. If they're straight, set deep enough, and properly braced, the rest of the fence will hold up fine. If the posts are crooked or too shallow, you'll be dealing with leaning panels and sagging gates within a couple years.

We set every post in concrete, plumb it, and brace it before we move on. Posts for privacy fences go at least 30 inches deep, deeper if the soil is soft. It takes more time, but it's why our fences still look straight five years later.

Whether you need a wood privacy fence to keep the kids in the yard, chain link for the dog, or vinyl because you're done with staining, we'll build it right.

What We Install

Fence Types

Wood Privacy Fences

Our most requested fence. 6-foot cedar or pressure-treated pine boards, set tight with no gaps. Dog-ear, flat-top, or board-on-board styles. We use 4x4 posts in concrete with 2x4 rails and quality hardware. A well-built wood fence gives you real privacy and looks good doing it.

Vinyl Fencing

If you never want to stain, paint, or replace boards, vinyl is the way to go. It holds up to Ohio weather without rotting, warping, or fading. Costs more upfront than wood, but you save on maintenance over the life of the fence. We install white, tan, gray, and wood-grain vinyl in privacy and semi-privacy styles.

Chain Link Fencing

Straightforward, affordable, and tough. Chain link works well for backyards, dog runs, and property lines where you want a boundary without blocking the view. We install galvanized and vinyl-coated chain link in heights from 4 to 6 feet. Add privacy slats if you want more screening.

Ornamental / Iron Fencing

Aluminum ornamental fencing gives you the look of wrought iron without the rust. It's popular for front yards, pool enclosures, and properties where you want security without a solid visual barrier. Powder-coated in black, bronze, or white.

Edgar Munoz with Iron Edge truck in Columbus Ohio

Fencing seems simple until you see it done wrong. Crooked posts, warped boards, gates that won't close after the first rain. I've fixed enough bad fence jobs to know that the details matter.

I'm Edgar Munoz, and I'm on every fence installation we do. I make sure the posts are straight, the boards are tight, and the gates work the way they should. When we leave your property, the fence looks clean and professional. That's the standard, every time.

FAQ

Fence Installation Questions

How much does fence installation cost in Columbus?

Wood privacy fences in Columbus typically run $25-$45 per linear foot installed. Vinyl fencing is $30-$55 per linear foot. Chain link is the most affordable at $15-$30 per linear foot. A typical 150-foot wood privacy fence might cost $3,750-$6,750. Prices depend on material, height, terrain, and gate requirements. We give free on-site estimates.

What type of fence lasts longest in Ohio weather?

Vinyl and aluminum/ornamental iron last the longest with minimal maintenance, 30+ years easily. Cedar and pressure-treated wood fences last 15-25 years with staining every few years. Chain link lasts 20+ years. For longevity without upkeep, vinyl wins. For the classic look at a lower price, wood is still the most popular choice in Columbus.

Do I need a permit for a fence in Columbus?

Columbus does not require a permit for most residential fences under 7 feet tall. However, you do need to follow setback requirements, fences in front yards have height restrictions, and there are rules about placement near sidewalks and intersections. We know the local rules and make sure your fence is compliant.

How long does fence installation take?

Most residential fence installations take 1-3 days depending on the length, material, and terrain. A straightforward 150-foot wood privacy fence on flat ground can often be done in 1-2 days. Hilly lots, rocky soil, or complex gate setups add time.

Do you remove old fences?

Yes. We tear out old fences, pull the posts, and haul everything away. If the old post holes are in the right spots, we can sometimes reuse them to save you money. If not, we dig new holes and fill the old ones.
